Review all contract documentation relating to welding and NDE requirements prior to welding commencing. Manage all aspects of welding and NDE, both in-house and sub-contract. Manage and control sub-contract welding. Manage all welding equipment to ensure we meet the QA and contract requirements. Manage all welding documentation. Drive QA pertaining to welding to ensure we maintain a failure level of 4% or less. Select and liaise with external NDE and/or PWHT suppliers as required, ensuring cost, delivery and quality are maintained whilst product is off site. Ensure material being delivered to those suppliers is sufficiently marked up to allow efficient processing. Review all documentation from NDE subcontractors and collate documentation into project files. Store and maintain radiographic films. Liaise with Stores to ensure sufficient stock of weld consumables is maintained and manage the pre-heating and storage of welding rods to minimise scrap/wastage. Control weld consumable storage, and maintain ovens and quills. Control all aspects of welding on the shop floor ensuring weld consumables are issued, controlled and documented. Ensure the welders are working to the correct approved weld procedures. Create schedules for welding and NDE operations. Proactively work to ensure schedules are met or exceeded. Liaise with Production to ensure weld test pieces and special requirements for weld test are planned. Provide input into the review, interview and selection process for new welding employees to ascertain their skill level based on the contract requirements. Liaise with Company Welding Engineer to ensure weld test and procedures are carried out in a controlled manner. Review all weld procedures prior to welding commencing. Drive Continuous Improvement. Liaise with Workshop Supervisor, Logistics Supervisor, Operations Manager and QA department to drive business forward.
